Harvesting hope for Honduras.

Who we are

Persistence, partnership, and practical hope.

Since 2002, Projecto Honduras has worked with volunteers, supporters, and partner organizations to help families facing preventable illness, limited education, and recurring hardship.

Our purpose

Stay long enough to make a lasting difference.

The work is rooted in continuity: operating a free medical clinic, supporting a surgical eye center, strengthening schools, and responding to immediate humanitarian needs.

The organization focuses on practical help for families facing preventable disease, parasites, fungal infections, cataracts, pterygiums, limited schooling, storm damage, food insecurity, and other urgent needs.

“Each of us can make a difference. Together, we can change what is possible.”

Projecto Honduras

Volunteer led

Volunteers contribute their time and cover their own travel and living expenses while serving in Honduras.

Direct support

Founders cover administrative costs so donations can support programs and aid for families.

Locally informed

Long-term relationships help the organization understand what is useful, urgent, and sustainable.

Our story

From personal service to a lasting nonprofit.

Projecto Honduras grew from the Castellar family's long-running connection to Honduras and a simple conviction: when practical help can reach families, distance should not decide who receives care.

Evelyn and José Castellar

A relationship-first beginning.

Evelyn and José Castellar helped turn recurring service into a volunteer-powered 501(c)(3) focused on free medical care, sight restoration, education support, and humanitarian aid.

The work has stayed personal: listen to local needs, build trust with community partners, and return with support that families can actually use.

Today, volunteers and supporters help carry that pattern forward through medical teams, supply shipments, school support, fundraiser events, and steady donor care.
